In the future, we’ll flesh out our approach to tracking the economy.  This won’t be an endless analysis of each data release.  Most statistics tell us nothing about the future, and forecasters often go wrong by trying to find meaning in every piece of information.  But there are a handful of valuable indicators that we watch closely, and there’s a way of putting them together that seems to work.
